Its 2019!
Hello there! It's been six years since I last updated this blog, not that it matters, not that anyone reads this. Well anyway, a lot has changed in the past six years. I got married, I have a 2.75 year old daughter, and a baby son on the way. So that's all very nice. Work wise things have been very rocky - not really sure what to do. I should probably have gone back to full-time years ago but am determined to stick this out.

Screencasts!
Today I'm recording two screencast tutorials for Computer Arts magazine. I'm just going to ramble through them and see how it goes… I should be doing this now, not typing this. Maybe I'll make some more coffee.

Computer Arts Interview!
Well… Computer Arts are coming over to the studio to film me talking through a few tutorials and to ask a few questions about my company, openbyhand. I've never done an interview for a magazine before, let alone one that's being recorded on video. Tiny bit terrified!

84 - BERG - Secret Project
Towards the end of 2012 I was approached by BERG to help out with a game they were creating for a (rather big) client of theirs. They needed someone to work in house and design characters, locations, and a multitude of other in-game assets (menus, game over screens, leaderboards, UI elements) - oh and they would all need animating too!
I felt very privileged to be working in the same studio that was just about to launch the absolutely amazingly awesome Little Printer. The folks at BERG made me feel very welcome in what is a very tight-knit team.
I don't often get the opportunity to both design and animate characters on the same project, and coming on board quite late into the development of the game was a big challenge. Despite some rather crazy deadlines, and some unexpected twists and turns; everything turned out great.
I'm not allowed to post anything that I did… but hopefully some day that project will see the light of day and I can say "I worked on that!"

85 - Digit
I was asked to composite various typographic elements into a video that Digit had filmed. More on this soon!

83 - Matt Watkinson - Ten Principles
Matt Watkinson got in touch about creating an animated take of his cover to go into the book's promotional video. Having animated the three faces on the cover and built a 3D model of the book I then created a seamless transition to the pack shot with URL.
Here's a nice little mention of me that I found on his website,
'Within 48 hours of getting animator Matt Thomas' details I'd given him a rough brief, he'd done a great job and I'd paid the invoice. Isn't this how business should be?'
Yes indeed!
Here's a link to his website, and you can buy the book directly from Amazon.
