84 - BERG - Secret Project

Towards the end of 2012 I was approached by BERG to help out with a game they were creating for a (rather big) client of theirs. They needed someone to work in house and design characters, locations, and a multitude of other in-game assets (menus, game over screens, leaderboards, UI elements) - oh and they would all need animating too!

I felt very privileged to be working in the same studio that was just about to launch the absolutely amazingly awesome Little Printer. The folks at BERG made me feel very welcome in what is a very tight-knit team.

I don't often get the opportunity to both design and animate characters on the same project, and coming on board quite late into the development of the game was a big challenge. Despite some rather crazy deadlines, and some unexpected twists and turns; everything turned out great.

I'm not allowed to post anything that I did… but hopefully some day that project will see the light of day and I can say "I worked on that!"

83 - Matt Watkinson - Ten Principles

Matt Watkinson got in touch about creating an animated take of his cover to go into the book's promotional video. Having animated the three faces on the cover and built a 3D model of the book I then created a seamless transition to the pack shot with URL.

Here's a nice little mention of me that I found on his website,

'Within 48 hours of getting animator Matt Thomas' details I'd given him a rough brief, he'd done a great job and I'd paid the invoice. Isn't this how business should be?'

Yes indeed!

Here's a link to his website, and you can buy the book directly from Amazon.

82 - Nowness - Cloud Atlas

Nowness needed a Flash app creating to showcase some fantastic Cloud Atlas inspired illustrations by Kimberley Salt. I designed the interface and produced an animated demo in After Effects showing how it would work, the final piece was coded in Flash by my good friend Barnaby Sheeran of These Beautiful Lies.

The work had to fit into Nowness's existing site and work as simply as possible, whilst allowing the user to take a closer look at each image.

Here's a link to the work we produced.

76 - Epson User Experience Demo

Purpose needed an animated user journey creating in a hurry. They had a bunch of designs across a variety of platforms that needed bringing to life in just under a week!

Here's what I was able to come up with,

A lot, lot quicker than coding the things :)

74 - Money Advice Service - Pet Insurance

I was asked to produce two animations for the Money Advice Service, this one was to highlight particularly important issues around pet insurance. I had no idea just what a minefield it could be! I wrote the script, storyboarded it, designed the characters and environments in Illustrator and animated the final piece in After Effects.

A Budgie, with a mirror

A cat, with a syringe

Here's the final animation as supplied to the Money Advice Service,

71 - Digit - TNS: Commitment Economy

Digit asked me to produce a third TNS animation, this one focusing on the 'Commitment Economy'. This was all scripted and storyboarded in advance by Digit - and went to plan for the most part…

Here it is in the state it was in when I delivered it, I believe it had a few adjustments here and there in the time after I was contracted to work on it!

64 - Vodafone - Banners

The Partners asked me to produce several video banner adverts for a new Vodafone campaign. The first one featured a stream of apps coming from a handset, and the second demonstrated the interchangeable covers available for certain phones.
